86% of listed agencies have earned under $10K lifetime, and 5,249 have earned nothing at all. Among agencies with any earnings the median is $10.4K; the top 10% start at $32.5K and the top 1% at $1.80M. A directory listing is cheap; a track record is not.
1,446 of the indexed agencies created their Upwork account this year, against 1,326 last year. Read with the earnings chart: most of the new supply has not yet won a contract.
Only 5% of agencies carry a Top Rated badge, and 1,035 (14%) have enough history for a Job Success Score at all. Among the rated, 92% sit at 90% or above: the score separates the active from the inactive more than the good from the bad.
Upwork publishes a last-contract date for 2,382 agencies. 567 of them worked in the last quarter. Separately, 709 agencies show a non-zero recent-earnings figure, $21.9M combined.
The floor is the low end of the rate range an agency publishes. Median $30/hr.
