How these are computed- Run-rate, measured
- pending
- Needs two observations at least 14 days apart. Our next read of this page turns this on. Nothing is extrapolated from a single contract.
- Lifetime pace
- $109K/yr estimate
- Lifetime earnings divided by years on Upwork. A floor on historical pace, not a forecast.
- Earnings per job
- $8.7K
- Average contract value to date.
- Recent earnings, per Upwork
- $52.4K
- The "recent" figure Upwork attaches to the directory card, with 550 recent hours. Upwork does not publish the window, so it is shown as its number, not ours.
- Realised hourly
- $111/hr
- Total earned over billed hours. Fixed-price work inflates it; compare with the rate card.

About
We help founders and early-stage teams turn MVPs into production-grade products without the usual chaos, rewrites, or blown budgets. TWO THINGS MOST UPWORK AGENCIES SKIP. WE DON'T: 1. We send voice notes, not two-sentence emails. Every week you'll get a voice update with context — what we built, what got tricky, and the one decision we need from you. You'll never have to wonder where your project is. 2. We ask before we code. Before any commits, we sit down and figure out who's actually going to use this and what they're trying to get done — not just what's in the spec. Most agencies skip this. It's why their work feels generic. Who's behind it Haynes Lab is led by Daniel Haynes. He started his first software company, Gaminglight, in 2013 and spent over a decade scaling high-traffic systems before selling it in 2024. Most recently, he was founding CTO at SharpDuel, where he took the platform from zero to over $200k MRR in under a year (Node.js, Next.js). Before that, he led engineering at a smart-hardware company — full-stack app development, embedded firmware on STM32 and ESP32, TensorFlow ML integrations, plus the manufacturing and provisioning automation behind it. That decade of shipping real systems for real users — not just demos — is why we think about reliability, edge cases, and growth from day one. What we're best at • MVP to production SaaS development • Scalable backend systems with Node.js, TypeScript, MongoDB, and Postgres • Full-stack web apps with React and Next.js • Payments, subscriptions, and Stripe integrations • Infrastructure, CI/CD, and automation on AWS and Cloudflare • Real-time systems, background jobs, and internal tooling • Embedded firmware, IoT, and hardware-adjacent systems • AI features with OpenAI and Claude (custom models when it matters) • Workflow automation, agent design, and operational documentation Why clients hire us instead of the cheaper option A lot of clients come to us after trying to save money overseas or hiring an agency that looked good on paper. They usually end up with fragile code, missed requirements, or a half-finished product that has to be rebuilt before it can ship. We're more expensive than the cheapest bidder. We're a lot cheaper than rebuilding. If you want a senior engineering team that steps in early, makes good technical calls, moves fast, and actually tells you what's happening on your project — let's talk.Read more
